County Championships 2017

On Sunday 9th July, 4 girls competed in the County Championships held in Kettering. All the girls competed at different levels and walked away with lots of medals.

In Age Level 5

Pippa was our youngest competitor. Her first apparatus was vault, she had a few shaky warm ups that didn’t go to plan but when it was time to compete she focused and performed 2 brilliant vaults and came away with a gold medal. Next up was bars, this wasn’t her strongest piece but still managed to come 4th. Beam next to compete on, Pippa performed beautifully, a great composed routine earning her the Gold medal. Floor was her last apparatus to compete on. She performed a lovely routine and came 2nd. Overall Pippa had a fantastic day with some beautiful performances and walked away as the County In Age Level 5 Champion. Fantastic result.

In Age Level 4

Scarlett competed in the In Age Level 4 category which was a very small competition. She had been struggling a bit in training leading up to the competition but managed to shine on the day. Vault was first, Scarlett is powerful vaulter and she performed a good half on to knees, this was a lower start value than the others but came in 2nd place. Bars was her next apparatus. Scarlett fought her way through the bar routine but wasn’t able to connect all her skills so again came 2nd. Beam has been a shaky piece with Scarlett but she overcame her fears and managed a clean routine to place 2nd. Floor was her last apparatus and Scarlett loves to perform. She showed a beautiful and expressive routines but had a couple of landing mistakes so received 2nd place. Overall Scarlett walked away as County In Age Level 4 Silver Medalist.

Level 3

Annabel is the new County Level 3 Champion. With soft tissue damage to her foot in the lead up to the competition she was unable to train to her full potential, however this didn’t seem to stop her drive to perform well at the competition. Her first apparatus was vault where she only had 1 chance to show the judges what she could do. Next up was bars, Annabel performed her swing half in competition for the first time. A beautiful beam routine showed off her poise and elegance as well as her difficulty acro skills. Last apparatus for Annabel was floor, she has worked hard on her artistry and managed to combine it well with her strong tumbling skills. Annabel got gold on all pieces and overall.

County Championships

Shannon started her competition on Bars, she had a few unfortunate falls but competed quite a few new skills and placed 5th. Being one of our smaller gymnasts Shannon has found vault a difficult piece. After working hard she has found how to use her power to perform high value vaults. She came away with a gold medal on this apparatus. Shannon’s floor routine had the usual sparkle with some powerful tumbles where she placed 5th. Beam was her last apparatus of the day. She performed a solid beam routine with a difficult mount that no-one else performed. Within her age group she came 1st. Shannon was also entered into the County Championships on all apparatus which she competed against girls who were up to 6 years older than her. With a clean beam routine she manage to walk away as the County Champion on Beam.

A great result from all the girls…..Well done!
